Signature Masi Mountain
Base Level: Joining Johnny’s cabin at base camp this week we have a few players who might have gotten a little cold near the top of the mountain. Bryce and Tommy were settling in up towards at top of the mountain but after a tough week for the both them, slides them down. Tommy had his work cut out for him this week, taking on Team Signature and on a mission to get Johnny his first points for his birthday, but team Signature took this week personally after unfavorable odds and won in a dominating fashion. Bryce on the other hand had a similar beast taking on the George/Rico Sr group with JGing as his partner. Causing a 4 group delay behind them, this group was enjoying the scenery and the dope as pace of play became an issue, but allowed George/Rico Sr. to settle in and hand Bryce yet another defeat which is shocking for a player who has been striking the ball well.
Level Two: First, let’s acknowledge the players who have made it off of base level this week, Swoop and Jake, and are starting to climb Masi Mountain. Both players hit the ball well all round, and Swoop arguably drove the ball the best we’ve seen all year, possibly inspired by Buster as his partner. With Jake and Ryan taking on Swoop and Buster, Jake and Ryan had high hopes to take this one home, but it all went wrong for the team. Struggling to find any momentum, Buster took advantage and led his team to a 3-hole lead with 3 to play. Jake said enough was enough and as 50 Cent took over the cart speaker, hammered a drive and went pin hunting to take a hole from Buster after a commanding Birdie on the 16th. However it wasn’t enough as Buster would take the next hole and seal the win.
Ryan on the other hand.. what a fall from grace. Holding the top spot since week 5 played horribly and carded a 49 when it mattered most. He let Jake down and couldn’t compete or take any holes from the Buster pairing this week. After boasting about making room on the trophy case, might not deserve it with play like that coming down the stretch.
Level Three: Welcome to the peak Team Signature and Buster. Buster, after living at base camp last week due to missing, shoots up the mountain this week after carding a 38 and going 2-over. Hard to argue with a player of that caliber not being up at the top. When Buster is playing he still is showing to be almost an Auto-Win, even with a hurt shoulder from tubing. Team Signature on the other hand, wanted and almost needed to make a statement this week. As league host and commissioner, coming into the week as underdogs was a slap in the face to the pairing and won in a dominating fashion. Rico Jr., who has been streaky as of late played a solid round of golf and Cavs is sneakily becoming a low 40s golfer, which should make the league nervous. Two players not to overlook moving forward, as their matchups to come look favorable for them to make a run up the board. Next week we look forward to the Buster vs Ryan rubber match as this will be the last time the two meet with both taking a W against each other through so far.
Top of the Mountain: Mr. George Masi, welcome to the top of the mountain. For those wondering here are some stats about Geo. He has only lost twice so far this year. Those two losses came in week 1 and week 5. Geo is on a 6-week win streak. He’s consistently averaging the longest putts made per round. And simply put, he has been golfing in a dominating fashion for a long time now. Looking ahead, Geo will have a great test this week but will maintain top spot no matter how it shakes out and will have two weeks after to keep up the stellar play to take home the trophy.
Mark your calendars for August 6th, with the last test of the year being George & Tommy vs Ryan & Cavs as it may come down to that for league winner.
