That’s a wrap on week two of the Signature Open, and as far as anyone is concerned, it is anyone’s league. No drama this week getting to the first box but there was something in the air this time around and you could tell there would be magic. Kitchen and bar staff finally got to see what we’re about after the round with the whiskey flowing and turkey wraps flying out of the kitchen. But let’s talk about the groupings…

Group One: Buster & Jake vs. Tommy & Jack

All eyes were on the young star in group one after a commanding season opener the week before. Hitting the opening shot, Buster felt no pressure finding center fairway and picked up where he left off, cruising to victory yet again with Jake as his partner. Tommy & Jack were simply outmatched, but players are wondering if Jack would benefit from using a tee on the teebox for his faithful three-wood. Either way, no amount of power or dope could stop the Buster train in week two.

Group Two: Rico Jr. & Cavs vs. Bryce & Ryan

Tense matchup to say the least with this one. Bryce fresh off the plane from Vegas said enough is enough and with no warm-up came to play. Bryce parred hole 2 and the pairing never looked back, keeping the door closed on Cavs and Rico whenever they came knocking. Rico and Ryan battled playing to a near even score, but stellar short game play from Ryan never let the Rico/Cavs pair take a hole on them, ending 3 up with 2 to play. Cavs on the other hand was itching to get the bar to shake off what was a poor performance off the tee-box. Look for him to rebound strong next week as Signature will be closing early all week so he can hit the range.

Group Three: J Ging & George vs. Rico Sr & Eckl Group Of The Week

Eckl is making a strong case for entry into the Signature Open come 2024 with back-to-back weeks filling in and showing he may be one of the top players in the field. This grouping went the distance, up and down all round with George & Ging jumping out to a two hole lead – only to have Eckl climb the mountain for a second week in a row and make it all square leading into the 9th.  With all players hitting decent tee shots, it came down to who was going to put the other team away. Without hesitation Eckl and Rico Sr. stuck their approaches to within 2 feet of the pin and it looked like that was it. However, Ging remembering the collapse to Eckl in week 1 said not today. Needing to sink a 15 footer, downhill, to par the hole Ging stepped up and drilled his putt! The first Tiger-Like roar of the league, as Ging said NOT TODAY! Both teams secured 1.5 points after late heroics from LeGoat.
