Many men, wish death upon me. Blood in my eye dawg, and I can’t see. I’m trying to be what I’m destined to be, and n***as tryin’ to take my life away… Something changed this week and the door is wide open as we wrap week 6 and move to week 7. A eerily quiet putting green this time as there was no talking as players warmed up, focused on their matchups to come. Mid 60s, overcast and freshly sanded greens set-up the course for some low scoring potential, but we had no idea what we were in store for in all the groups this week.

Group One: Rico Jr. & Tommy vs. Rico Sr. & Bryce

Shaky start for the Vegas favorites Rico Jr and Tommy to start this 9. Bryce and Rico Sr. jumped out to a quick 2 hole lead, as this pairing was powered by Doritos, booze and dope. I think we can chalk up the slow start for these two from their minds being focused on fishing, as the pair was chomping at the bit to get to hole 3 and cast their lines. After catching a couple bass, Rico Jr. and Tommy decided to lock in, as Rico Jr. won 4 holes straight to seal the lead for his pairing. After missing last week, Jr. came back with a vengeance and is now looking to make a charge up the leaderboard in weeks to come. Next week maybe Rico Sr. and Bryce try a new snack because it almost worked.

Group Two: Ryan & Johnny vs. Jake & George

There must have been some side conversations leading into this one, because Jake was Tiger Woods level focused coming into this one, and he wasn’t afraid to show it. After starting off HOT Ryan & Johnny jumped out to a three hole lead, with Ryan driving the ball a mile. But, maybe they got two comfortable as Geo and Jake turned it on. Winning not one, not two, not three, not four but five holes straight. The momentum and roars from the two as they sank pars and birdies one after another had Ryan rattled, and no matter what he did, he had no answer for the freight train that was Sciortino. Shooting up the leaderboard, Geo and Jake are closing in on the top spot as Ryan is now feeling the pressure from the pack behind him and might have to postpone Ariana’s knee rehab so he can focus on golf, his true priority.

Group Three:  Cavs & J Ging vs. Buster & Jack Group Of The Week

We want Soto… We want Soto… was ringing in Cav’s ear this week, channeling his inner dominance in what may be the round of the season. In a true David vs. Goliath scenario, Cav’s and Ging squared off against Jack and Buster, with Buster coming off of a loss last week and reportedly carding 38s and 39s at Deerfield. But perhaps inspired by the Yankees over the weekend, Cav’s played to an all time best 41. But it wasn’t smooth sailing, as this match came down to the last hole. Being 1 up, it came down to the short game and with Buster carding a bogey on the last, Cav’s had to two-putt from 25ft away to push the hole and seal the win. With both earlier groups surrounding the green, you could hear Cav’s heart beating with an unbelievable amount of pressure.  Leaving his first putt out of gimmie range, the second one wasn’t easy. But, without a doubt Cav’s banged it into the back of the cup, letting out a signature “BOOM” and celebrating his first win of the season. A huge win for the pair and great points for J Ging as his strength of schedule only gets harder in the weeks to come.
